It is much easier than Yoga as Tai Chi does not hold positions for a long time, nor stretch you beyond your physical limitations. It is perfect for older adults who are not as active as they were years ago. You learn at your own pace, Tai Chi is a lifelong endeavor. With consistent practice, you will master it!
The form I teach is the Yang style of Tai Chi, derived from Cheng Man-Ch'ing's 37 form with additional important movements added by my Master, William CC Chen. There are 60 total movements in the short form. The movements blend into each other, forming a graceful yet powerful form.
Tai Chi is known to improve balance and preventing falls. It is also known to help lower blood pressure and aid in reducing weight. With continued practice, it can also strengthen your cardiovascular health. As this is a moving meditation practice, you can also expect a calming of the mind and improvement in mood, similar to Yoga practice.
I have been studying Tai Chi Chuan for over 20 years. I not only received my Teacher Certificate by Grandmaster William CC Chen, I also traveled to Taiwan and passed a rigorous examination in order to receive an internationally recognized Black Belt certification from the IKFF. In 2015 I was bestowed the “Master” title from Grandmaster Chen in New York City. From 2010 through 2015 I studied under the late Master Luis Molera learning Taiji Fan, Staff and Shibashi qigong. I have competed in numerous National and International competitions, and was awarded several medals in form, weapons and Tuishou (push Hands). I also am a certified National judge from USKSF.
Many first time students like the social atmosphere that surrounds a group class, where everyone helps one another, from beginners to advanced students. Private lessons are customized to your specific needs and held either in your home or public location.
